Bangladesh given list of militants to NIA hiding in India

Bangladesh has handed over to the visiting National Investigation Agency team a list of 10 militants and 41 top criminals believed to be hiding in India. The list provided yesterday includes the banned Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) Chief Sohel Mahfuz, two convicted JMB militants, Mizan and Salehin, snatched in a police car ambush in Mymensingh in Feb this year, and Faruque who masterminded the snatching operation. The NIA had on Monday handed over a list of 11 suspected militants thought to be behind the October 2 Burdwan blast.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Joint Commissioner Monirul Islam told reporters today that Bangladesh and Indian intelligence agencies shared the suspicion that the JMB operatives snatched in a police car ambush early this year were behind the Burdwan blast, and sought Bangladesh help in arresting them.
A 4-member NIA team headed by Director General Sharad Kumar is in Dhaka since Monday to share information with Bangladeshi intelligence agencies on the Burdwan blast and activities of the banned JMB. The Bangladesh Home Ministry has formed a high-power committee to liaise with the visiting NIA team.
