LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) is proposed to set up an advanced eye research and education centre in Vishakapatnam.The premier eye institute is expected to approach the Andhra Pradesh government for allotment of 10 acres in the Health City. In fact, LVPEI is the first to set up its campus in the Health City at its allotted five acres near Hanumanthawaka junction.The institute is considering to set up global centre for eye research in the health city, near its existing campus, GN Rao LVPEI founder told the media recently.
The proposed centre will undertake research and development, clinical trials and impart education to the eye specialists, paramedics and administrative officials. It will be an ultra modern campus with high-end audio visual links to conduct classes on video conference and other modes.The institute is expected to invest upto Rs 15 crore in the project, which may require about Rs 200 crore. He felt this institute will immensely enhance the brand value of Vizag. The institute will also encourage student, faculty and experts exchange programmes by tying up with advanced eye care institutes from all over the world.
