India's Mangalyaan has successfully entered the Martian orbit

India's Mars Orbiter Mission, Mangalyaan has successfully entered the Martian orbit a short while ago. Indian Space Programme created the history as India came one more step closer to its cherished dream of landing on Mars. The Insertion operation of the spacecraft was performed at scheduled time 07 hours 17 minutes and 32 seconds this morning. Our Correspondent reports that liquid apogee motor was fired for 24 mintues 16 seconds. With this achievement, India became the first country in the world to achieve this feat in the first attempt. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was present at the ISRO, Bangalore to witness the crucial Mars Orbiter Insertion, congratulated the entire team of ISRO. He also congratulated to the people of India for this great success. Alongwith Prime Minister, Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda, Minister of State for Civil Aviation G M Siddeshwara, Indian Space Research Organisation Chairman, Dr.K. Radhakrishnan and Senior Scientist U.R.Rao were also present at ISRO. Earlier on Monday ISRO successfully test-fired the Mission's main engine. Given the high rate of failures only 21 out of 51 missions sent to Mars by various countries being successful, the success of Mars orbiter Mission in the very first shot will boost India's global standing in Space. Mangalyaan is primarily a technological mission and it has been configured to carry out observation of physical features and the atmosphere of Mars.
