Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today announced world-fame tennis star Sania Mirza as `Brand Ambassador’ of Telangana state. She will promote new `state’s interests’ in India and abroad.
On this occasion, chief minister handed over a letter of appointment and also a cheque of Rs 1 crore as grant for training and to meet other expenses to participate in the US Open and other tournaments. Yesterday chief minister announced this grand when Sania called on him.
The appointment letter and cheque were presented at a meeting the chief minister had with industrialists on the industrial policy.
Rao said Telangana is proud of Sania who is a true Hyderabadi. 27-year-old Sania is now ranked number five in international tennis. Chief minister wished her to become number one very soon.
