star and Congress star campaigner Chiranjeevi who failed to get clearance for
his son’s proposed airlines when he was minister of state with independent
charge in UPA government, now succeeded in getting formal clearance from
BJP-led NDA government.
According to
official courses the civil aviation ministry approved six new airlines licenses,
pending for approval since a long. P Ashok Gajapathi Raju awarded no-objection
certificate since last one month.
Among these six
new airlines, Turbo Megha is promoted by Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan Tej.
Besides him, Vankayalapati Umesh are directors of the airlines. Turbo Megha is
proposing to operates charter flights out of Hyderabad, is expected to be based
here only.
Incidentally,
these licenses were kept pending during UPA regime to limit number of domestic
airlines by tightening approving applications for new airlines. Its civil
aviation minister Ajith Singh kept those applications pending by simply
directing Director General of Civil Aviation (DCGA) capacity study
It may be
recalled India is already having six airlines. They are Air India, IndiGo, Jet
Airways, Spice Jet, Go Air and Air Costa. It is interesting to know that
Narendra Modi government is issuing new licences at a time existing airlines
are struggling with intense competition and high operation costs.
