Kerala Governor Sheila Dixit has indicated that she will demit her office soon. In an informal chat with the journalists, Mrs. Dixit said that would not succumb to any sort of pressure from any quarter. ” I will take a decision (on resignation) according to my conscience, or as Lord Padmanabhan decides”.
The governor was accompanying President Pranab Mukherjee, who was visiting the Sree Padmanabha Temple this morning. This was Sheila Dixit's second visit to the temple. Asked whether she had received any communication from the Centre, she stoutly retorted “none". However Mrs. Dixit evaded further questions on her resignation.
Mr Mukherjee who had reached the state capital for a two-day visit spent over 45 minutes in the temple. He was briefed about the temple's history, architecture and unique traditions. The president also enquired about the temple treasures. Aditya Varma, the scion of the Travancore royal family and administration officials briefed him on the sacred treasure.
