Venkaiah Naidu Hopeful of a Constructive Winter Session

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu has expressed the hope that the forthcoming winter session of Parliament would be constructive with both the ruling and opposition parties accommodating each other’s concerns. He was speaking to the media after Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi assumed the charge of Ministers of State for Parliamentary Affairs.

Shri Venkaiah Naidu informed that the Government would like to take up substantial legislative proposals for introduction as well as for consideration of both the Houses of Parliament. Shri Naidu further said that he saw no reason to be skeptical about the proceedings in both the Houses of Parliament. Referring to the first Budget Session of the Government, Shri Naidu said, it proved to be highly productive and there was no reason to expect the winter session to be any different.

Shri Venkaiah Naidu said that the Government firmly believed that the opposition be given due space to voice their concerns and views. He noted that the Government has the responsibility of fulfilling the mandate given to it by the people in the last general elections and the opposition need to cooperate with the government in transacting legislative business. Shri Naidu said, ‘while the opposition should be allowed to have its say, the government should be allowed to have its way.’
