Prime Minister Narendra Modi today asserted that the 21st century belongs to Asia and India will lead the world through its power of knowledge.Addressing a large gathering of scholars at Fiji National University, Mr Modi said the entire world is looking at India and people are curious to see what role it would play in times to come.The Prime Minister said, one may not be very sure whether the 21st century belongs to China or India but it is clear that this century will be driven by the engine of knowledge and that is a domain where the Indians have undoubtedly excelled in 5,000 years of history of mankind.
He urged the scholars to focus on new inventions and turn the educational institutions into the centres of excellence for the benefit of next generation. Cautioning against the impending digital divide that may snowball into a big challenge, Mr Modi said, the societies must be saved from this crisis.Congratulating the people of Fiji for choosing a democratically elected government in their country, the Prime minister expressed hope that the new regime would be able to secure Fiji's place in the democratic space of the world.Talking about the recent initiatives of his six-month-old government, Mr. Modi said he has launched a countrywide cleanliness campaign and the government is determined to turn India into such a beautiful country that your children would love to come there.
