As
many as 20 school children, including bus driver, feared dead when a
school bus belonging to Kakatiya School was hit by a train at an
unmanned level crossing near Masaipet of Yeldurhti Mandal in Medak
district of Telaangana state today morning, about 60 kms away from here.
At the time of the incident there were about 40 students present in the bus. 16 injured students were admitted in Yashoda Hospital, Secunderabad for medical care.
According to the sources, the train thrashed the bus with a high speed and thrown the school bus 1km away from the spot. The preliminary investigations reveal that due to the technical lapses, the signal was not displayed and the gates were not closed at the railway opening leading into the very sad incident.
An high level rescue team led by South Central Railway General Manager P K Srivatsava has immediately rushed to the spot after knowing about the incident. He has directed for complete investigation into the incident.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Railway Minister Sadnanda Gowda and the Chief Minister of Telangana K Chadnrasekhar Rao, besides many others expressed their deep condolence and shock over the matter.
The accident spot is near Manoharabad stationd. Many students are injured and are being rushed to Hyderabad. Telangana ministers T Harish Rao and G Jagadeswar Reddy have rushed to the spot.
