Newly formed Telangana state government strongly demanding several changes in the ongoing project design. TRS chief and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao categorically said without take-up new alignment the government did not ready cooperate construction organization to complete the project in coming future.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has asked L&T Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd to bring about changes in the metro alignment in two congested zones and at locations passing close to heritage sites.
He suggested that the elevated metro project should consider realigning the design and take underground lines, while passing through such busy corridors.
The Rs 16,000 crore 72-km metro rail projects have been designed to be a elevated metro rail. But with the Chief Minister indicating his idea that it should consider underground network in these stretches, major changes might be necessitated.
Rao on the floor of the State Legislative Assembly made it clear that his Government would not allow heritage structures to be dismantled or overshadowed by metro rail structures.
He stated that he had spoken to Metro Rail and also L&T about the need to change the project alignment.
The changes have been suggested in two of the three corridors of the project. One near the Assembly building and the other passing through busy shopping area of Sultan Bazar.
He said that the Government would convene an all-party meeting on the changes required in the metro alignment.
Several parts of the people of the city celebrated Chief Minister
KCR decision and they demanded that state government to stick on his stand in view to protect the
peoples welfare in the city.
