Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said that his government will soon formulate an industrial policy, which would best suit all the stakeholders both – national and foreign companies. The government is working the policy to be more industry friendly and help the state to attract investment.Rao is now in extensive meetings with officers and industry bodies and working out modalities and to identify deficiencies in the provisions. He prefers to have a ‘single window clearance system’ to remove bottlenecks and directs officials to formulate rules and regulations accordingly. The chief minister also wanted to have a special cell in CMO to monitor big ticket investment proposals and even to offer ‘hand-holding’ service to set up the units at greater speed. He told the officials to use the abundant natural resources in the state in order to attract the investors and not to compromise on the pollution front. He feels industrialization does not mean loss of forests or tribal habitations. The main objective of the industrial policy was to enhance job opportunities in the state, he added. To meet the power issues, directed the officials to take steps with proper planning. Lands, not suitable for cultivation, are to be identified for establishment of industries there. The chief minister suggested that the industrial policy should aim at encouraging women entrepreneurs belonging to SCs, STs, BCs and minorities. Textile parks are to be established in Warangal and Sircilla in Karimnagar district. Lands belonging to Azam Jahi Mills are to be utilised for development of the textile park and, if necessary, more land may be acquired, he suggested. Claiming that Warangal had all the facilities needed for a textile park, he said the Telangana Textile Park should be developed similar to Tirupur in Tamil Nadu. The railway station at Kazipet would be an added advantage.Rao decided to hold a broad-based meeting shortly to finalise the industrial policy for the new state and to invite industrialists, CII and FICCI representatives to a discussion on the new policy.
