Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday said the NDA government would bring amendments to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act-2014, after arriving at a “broad consensus” between all stakeholders, including the two state governments. This will be done primarily to address the shortcomings found in the implementation of the Act, he said.
Venkaiah also indicated that the Centre may take up the issue of introducing amendments to the Reorganisation Act during the forthcoming budget session of Parliament. He said: "Regarding amendments in the AP Reorganisation Act-2014, we will talk to both the state governments (AP and Telangana) and elected representatives on various issues and move forward. Informal talks happened recently on issues like the number of seats of Legislative Council and employees' division," Venkaiah said. "Only after a broad consensus on various issues, the Central government will take up the amendments," he said.

According to Venkaiah, there will be discussions on new Bills and Ordinances in the Budget session of Parliament. The Prime Minister has called for a meeting of different ministries on Monday and he will inquire the ministers on what Bills they seek to introduce, he said. Venkaiah, however, was non-committal on amendments to the AP Reorganization Act.
