Located in the forests of eastern Mahrashtra inhabited by tribals, the film is a saga of an extraordinary journey of the life of Dr Prakash baba Amte, the son of social worker Baba Amte and his wife Mandakini Amte. The Marathi film has Nana Patekar , Sonali Kulkarni and Mohan Agashe in lead roles. It is a biopic on Dr. Prakash Amte, the selfless doctor and social worker who devoted his life towards the development and upliftment of the tribal people in Hemalkasa who have not been touched by modern civilization.
Addressing a press conference at the 45th IFFI in Goa today, the actor of the Marathi film Nana Patekar in lead role , said that the film leaves an indelible impression on the mind of the viewer . The very fact that inspite of being a film in regional language, it is running house full even in its 7th week, shows how much it has moved the people, he added. The actor said that the film is a tribute to a cause and it is very much heartening to know that the people have appreciated it in such a big way. The actor disclosed that a film on the life of Dr Prakash Baba Amte will be produced in Hindi also.
The Director, Samruddhi Porey , said that the movie has been her dream project. “I wanted the world to see the philanthropic work of Dr Prakash Amte and Mandakini Amte”, she said. Samrudhdhi said that the film runs like a make-believe film story but the beauty is that it is a portrayal of reality. It is not only a story of struggle and sacrifice but also the unconditional love between a husband and a wife, the film is a humbling experience, she added.
The actress, Sonali Kulkarni, brought out her experience of working with such a senior and seasoned artist as Nana Patekar . It is challenging to live upto the standards of a senior actor like Nana Patekar inspite of it being her hat-trick film with him, she added.
