Ahead of
the Union Home Ministry scheduled meeting with the chief secretaries of Telangana and Andhra
Pradesh Thursday, to discuss on investing
the governor with the administrative powers on law and order in Hyderabad,
which would continue as joint capital for two states for the next ten years,
Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has threatened the Narendra Modi
government against from taking any such decision.
The AP
Reorganisation Act-2014 conferred
governor on issues concerning
law and order of Hyderabad to protect the rights of Seemandhra people. However,
the Telangana cabinet which met last evening has categorically decided not to accept
the circular sent by Union Home Ministry vesting absolute powers with the
Governor.
After the cabinet meeting, Chandrasekhar Rao warned that if the
Centre insisted, his government would launch a massive protest against the
centre. Last night he said that he would declare a war against the central government if it
gave more powers to the Governor in common capital area.
The Chief Minister said: 'We will not tolerate if the Central
government encroached upon powers of the State government'. 'If the Centre gave
more powers, I will convene a meeting of Chief Ministers of the country and
lodge my strong protest,' Rao declared.
