Alleging that the government was conspiring to scrap the tuition fee reimbursement scheme for students, the Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party demanded the TRS government to start implementing various schemes with an immediate call for a budget Assembly session. BJP Legislative Party leader K Laxman questioned the government whether it had records since 1956 pertaining to the nativity of all the people living the State.
He found fault with the new scheme (FAST) brought out by the government and said that it was not justified. He said that if the year 1956 is taken as cut off, people from Bhadrachalam, Gadwal, Adilabad and Zaheerabad, which were not part of Hyderabad State earlier, would be deprived off fee reimbursement and would be treated as settlers or non-locals. Laxman reminded the KCR about his pre-poll meetings wherein KCR had said that settlers would be part of Telangana State. The BJP leader demanded the CM to immediately release the pending fee reimbursement amounts to the students.
The BJLP leader also criticised the government for selective demolition of illegal buildings in GHMC. “The CM wants to take action against illegal constructions, but what action has he taken against the guilty GHMC officials, who ignored the constructions by taking bribes,” questioned Laxman. He also asked why no action was initiated on the illegal buildings in Old city.
Laxman opposed the 12 per cent reservation to Muslims and said that it was an appeasement to gain votes in the coming GHMC elections. He took exception to the CM’s version of Centre not supporting the state. Laxman said that the chief minister till now did not meet any of the Union ministers with proposals pertaining to the state.
