After post bifurcation situation newly formed Telangana
state and Andhra Pradesh state started fighting for special status. This was
become another headache to BJP led NDA government at Center.
Telangana state Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said that
Andhra Pradesh state reorganization bill which was passed during 15th
parliament sessions given clear cut assurance to providing special status to
Telangana and AP states. This was mentioned reorganization act. Now the BJP led
NDA government should implement the act with true spirit and that would help
both states achieve development and that would held the new states become economically
self sufficient. In this regard the
Telangana state Assembly passed resolution. The ruling TRS party opined they would
continue till the special status was achieved. On this issue the state
government want send a detail report to the Union government particularly
Planning Commission by incorporating the AP state reorganization act.
However AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu confident that
the state would get special status and that would help the state achieve
development during ten years period. BJP senior leader and Union Minister M Venkaiah
Naidu also confident and said centre would provide special status to AP which
was assured by previous Congress led UPA government. He assured the people of
AP he would pursue the matter in Delhi. He recalled that because of his and state
leaders persuasion efforts the state government issued ordinance on Polavram
project to merge the seven Mandals of
Khamamm district in the Andhra Pradesh state which are now in Telangana state. He
recalled that this was the decision taken in first union cabinet meeting. In
the same manner they would do hard work to provide special status to the Andhra
Pradesh state. According to AP TDLP sources
the party decided to pass resolution in its first Assembly session.
When the Telangana and AP Chief Ministers and political
party leaders expressing their demands on issue special status the Planning Commission
members have several doubts to providing special status to the both
states. One of political expert in Delhi
said that if the Union government touch special status subject that would
create new controversy in the country. Several statuses like Bihar strongly demanding
to the centre to provide special status for several years. This was issue did
not addressed by earlier government. When BJP led NDA was in power from
1999-2004 the government farmed three new states the respective states also
demanding for special status. Now it was
become interesting opint how the government would resolve the issue.
