Bihar Assembly speaker convenes all-party meet today


Bihar Assembly Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary has called a meeting of all political parties today to decide on various issues including the demand for opposition party status made by the Nitish Kumar group of JD(U). He will discuss the seating arrangements and other details forFebruary 20 when Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi will seek trust vote immediately after governor Keshari Nath Tripathi's address to the joint session of legislative assembly and council. 

The newly-elected JD(U) Legislature Party leader of Nitish group in the assembly, Vijay Kumar Choudhary, has sought the main opposition status in the House on the basis of having the support of more MLAs than the BJP's 87. Meanwhile, BJP has decided to move court if Speaker gives recognition to the ruling JD(U) as the main opposition party in the Vidhan Sabha. 

Meanwhile, Mr Manjhi met Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi yesterday. Several political parties including JD(U), RJD, Congress and CPI have accused Bihar Governor and the BJP for political instability in the state.
