Demanding an inquiry by a sitting High Court judge into the state repression on farmers in the capital region, YSR Congress has said that the Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would sit on a two day fast demanding justice to farmers on various counts.A delegation led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has met Governor ESL Narasimhan and submitted him a representation detailing the harassment being meted out to farmers who are not willing to part with their lands and sought an inquiry by a sitting High Court Judge.
Later former minister and Party leader Dharmana Prasad Rao announced that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would sit on a two-day fast at Tanuku in West Godavari district on January 31 and February 1 protesting against the anti-farmer policies of the TDP government. Besides the lopsided approach of land acquisition, the State has failed in providing MSP to farmers and give proper relief and rehabilitation to Hudhud Cyclone affected farmers.
Earlier, assuring the affected farmers of the capital area that YSR Congress will stand by them and the fight it out at all available forums, Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that the TDP government has tuned up the governance on a mercantile scale.Addressing the farmers who had come to the Party Office, the Leader of Opposition said: “no force on the earth can take away your lands forcefully. We will be with you and fight for your cause.
Meanwhile, the Party Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy and 22 others filed a complaint with the State Human Right Commission naming six police official of Guntur as respondents. The police have been harassing the farmers and are forcing them to name some YSRCP leaders responsible for the arson which took place in the fields of the capital region.
