BJP preparing to snub its truck with TDP in GHMC polls

BJP in Telangana is slowly moving away from TDP. Putting an end to its poll alliance reached during recent general elections, party leaders are preparing themselves to strengthen party structure. They are of the view due to alliance with TDP, they were rooted out in the recent elections, out-side Hyderabad city that benefitted a lot to TRS to get absolute majority in the assembly.

Otherwise, a senior party leader said everyone expected an hung assembly, in which BJP could get a chance to play decisive role in formation of government. Due to alliance with TDP, large number of party cadre in villages and town migrated to TRS. “Many BJP activists had won in local body polls as TRS candidates”, he added.
Though till now BJP high-command has not given any signal of allowing its Telangana unit to go away from TDP,  the party started preparations to contest on its own in the forthcoming elections to Grater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), slated to be held this year-end.

The first strategy session of the party to prepare for GHMC polls was held yesterday, in which BJP Telangana president G Kishan Reddy has given clear indication that party cadre should be ready to contest on its own without having an alliance with any party.

Kishan Reddy asserted that 'we are not thinking of an alliance with any other party. We will contest in all the wards in the Greater elections.' The BJP, which had a poll tie-up with the TDP in the recently-concluded General Election, had suffered defeat in Telangana districts and could manage only a few seats in Hyderabad.

BJP leaders from Telangana districts tried to impress upon the high command during the last elections not to have an alliance with the TDP. Most of the BJP cadre was not happy with the high command's decision to take TDP on board. The leaders, during the review meetings, expressed that the alliance with TDP had cost them many seats in Telangana.
