Dr Sikka tweeted, "Humbled to lead @Infosys an iconic pioneer in IT. Looking fwd to learn & work w/ infoscions & global clients on breakthrough innovation."
Once star performer, Infosys hit by uncertainty at the top and its shrinking market share dimmed its status as the employer of choice for young IT workers, with staff leaving. Analysts had said the company would benefit from swiftly appointing a new CEO.
On April 12, the company had indicated that Shibulal might step down before his official retirement date in March 2015. Accordingly, Shibulal and Srinath Batni will step down from the board on July 31.
